TRINITY BAND MARCHING PROGRAM 2007

    Using a thrilling combination of sight and sound, the Trinity Trojan Band proudly takes the field with their 2007 production, The Defiance.  The Defiance combines the second and fourth movement of Russian composer Dimitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 with the second and fourth movements of Czech composer Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9.  The show takes the audience on a stimulating journey, recreating the seemingly hopeless days of Communist rule under Joseph Stalin.

    Shostakovich and Dvorak prove there are ways other than brute force to resist evil.  The first movement, Resistance, reveals the struggle against the reigning powers that bring despair to the people.  Reflection, the second part to the story, contemplates the issues with the present day regime.  The third movement, Restoration, leads into an exciting quest for equality and justice as the show comes to an exhilarating climax in the fourth movement with the Reclamation.

With close to 90 Drum Major teams competing, the Trinity Drum Majors won "Outstanding Drum Major Team" at the University of Texas, Arlington,  Summer Music Camp.   This award, presented to Head Drum Major Dyllon Basiloy, and Assistant Drum Majors Matt Adkins, Ashley Ball, and Becca Roberts, was presented to them for having the best team work and sportsmanship, and the most enthusiasm and initiative.  Also, congratulations to Becca Roberts who made the final eight in the individual conducting challenge competition.
